ABOUT THE PROJECT 6 questions

What is Pixels for Bricks?

Pixels for Bricks is an independent online advertising experiment built around a public wall of one million pixels. Buyers can purchase a defined block and submit an image, title, description and destination link for review and possible publication.

Is an order request already a purchase?

No. Submitting a request is free and no payment is taken on the website. The request is reviewed personally and may be accepted or rejected. An approved position becomes final only after the separate payment has been received and written confirmation has been sent.

Is this a donation or crowdfunding campaign?

No. A buyer receives an online advertising placement in exchange for payment. Pixels for Bricks is not presented as a donation platform or traditional crowdfunding campaign.

Is this an investment, cryptocurrency or NFT?

No. A block does not provide shares, securities, cryptocurrency, an NFT, ownership rights or a promise of financial return.

Does buying a block guarantee that The Dutch Guy will buy a house?

No. The project has a personal goal, but the final outcome is not guaranteed. Selling pixels creates gross sales from online placements. Costs, fees, taxes, refunds and other obligations must be deducted.

Does an order request count as sold or published pixels?

No. A successful request is shown only as a temporary reservation. It does not count as sold or published pixels. Published pixels and package value are counted only after a placement has actually been approved, paid and published.

PACKAGES AND PRICING 5 questions

Which block sizes are available?

The standard packages are Starter at 10 × 10 pixels, Growth at 20 × 20 pixels, Brand at 30 × 30 pixels and Spotlight at 50 × 50 pixels.

What are the package prices?

Starter contains 100 pixels for €100. Growth contains 400 pixels for €400, Brand 900 pixels for €900 and Spotlight 2,500 pixels for €2,500. Submitting a request is free. The applicable total and separate payment instructions are confirmed after review and before payment.

Is this a recurring payment?

No. The current standard packages are intended as one-time purchases. No subscription or automatic renewal should be created unless it is separately and clearly agreed.

Are there hidden costs?

The personal payment message must show the package, position and complete amount before payment. Optional later changes or services may be subject to separate conditions or charges, but they are not added without clear information and agreement.

Can I buy a custom block size?

Only the block sizes offered in the current request process are available as standard. Custom arrangements may be considered separately, but they are not guaranteed and must be confirmed in writing.

POSITIONS ON THE WALL 6 questions

Is my preferred position guaranteed?

A successful submission reserves the available position immediately and prevents overlapping requests. The reservation is still temporary during review and may be released if the request is rejected or cancelled. It becomes final after payment has been received and written confirmation has been sent.

Does selecting a position reserve it?

Selecting it on The Wall alone does not. When the completed order request is submitted successfully, the server checks the position again and reserves it immediately in the same protected database action.

When is my position confirmed?

Your position is confirmed only after personal review, a successful reservation, receipt of the separate payment and written confirmation. A selection or request by itself is not confirmation.

What do the X and Y coordinates mean?

The coordinates identify the top-left position of the selected block within the 1,000 × 1,000 pixel wall. Positions and block dimensions use 10-pixel increments.

What happens if another buyer selects the same place?

Selecting alone does not block the position. When a completed request is submitted, the server checks and reserves it in one protected database action. Only the first successful non-overlapping request is accepted; the other visitor must choose another available position.

Can I move my block later?

Moving a published block is not automatically included. A move may be possible depending on availability, technical impact and the applicable change conditions. Not every placement can be moved.

ORDERING 5 questions

How does the manual order process work?

Choose a package and preferred position, then submit the requested information. A successful submission reserves the position immediately and shows a reference. The administrator reviews the request, sends a personal payment link after approval and publishes only after payment and content approval. Status emails are sent at each important step. See How It Works.

What information does the request form collect?

The form asks for a name, email, preferred package and position, public title, description and destination link, optional alt text and an optional private message. The first confirmation email asks the requester to reply with the final image and order reference; only the administrator uploads that image to the protected system.

Which image formats and sizes are accepted?

Reply to the first confirmation email with a preferably square JPEG, PNG or WebP, preferably at least 1,000 × 1,000 pixels and no more than 5 MB. It must be clear at a small size and owned by the sender or used with permission. The administrator safely decodes and re-encodes it to a square derivative without stretching. SVG, animated GIF, HTML, scripts, corrupt and renamed non-image files are rejected.

Can someone under eighteen place an order?

The buyer must have legal capacity to enter into the agreement. A minor should only order with the valid permission or involvement of a parent or legal guardian where required.

How do I know my request was received?

The success screen shows a safe order reference immediately after the database has saved the request. Email delivery is not required for submission. The private dashboard is the source of truth and the reply is sent manually.

PAYMENT AND INVOICES 6 questions

How is payment handled?

If a request is approved, the administrator sends a personal payment request or payment instruction by email. No payment is processed on the Pixels for Bricks website and the website does not collect card or bank-account credentials.

Which payment methods are accepted?

The available method is stated in the personal payment instruction after review. No specific method is promised on the public website.

When do I pay?

Only after the request has been reviewed and approved. The position is already temporarily reserved at that point. You receive the package, coordinates, total and personal payment link before making a payment.

What if payment is not received?

The placement is not confirmed or published. The administrator may ask for clarification, leave the position temporarily reserved or manually release it according to the information sent with the request.

Will I receive confirmation or an invoice?

Written confirmation is sent after payment has been received. Whether a formal invoice is required and which details appear depends on the applicable invoicing and tax obligations.

What should I do if I appear to have paid twice?

Contact Pixels for Bricks promptly with the order references and payment dates. Do not send full card details. Duplicate-payment reports will be checked against the verified payment records.

CONTENT AND REVIEW 7 questions

Is every submission reviewed?

Yes. Images, titles, descriptions and destination links are reviewed before publication.

How long does review take?

Submissions are reviewed as soon as reasonably possible. No fixed publication deadline is promised unless it is explicitly stated in the confirmed order conditions.

Can I be asked to change my submission?

Yes. When content can be made compliant, the buyer may receive a request to replace or adjust the image, title, description, alternative text or link.

Can my content be rejected after payment?

Yes. Payment does not remove the obligation to follow the placement rules. Content that is unlawful, unsafe, misleading, infringing or otherwise non-compliant may be rejected. The next steps are governed by the Refunds & Placement Policy and mandatory law.

What becomes visible to visitors?

Approved public information may include the image, title, short description, approved link, block size, coordinates and category. Private billing and payment information is not intended for publication.

Will my placement appear in the Wall Directory?

Published placements appear automatically in the directory and are sorted alphabetically by their public title. Temporary reservations and private order information do not appear there.

Can published content be removed later?

Yes. Content may be suspended or removed when required by law, a valid rights complaint, security concerns, an unsafe destination, a breach of the applicable conditions or another justified reason. Any contractual consequences are governed by the relevant terms and mandatory law.

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY 5 questions

Do I keep ownership of my image and logo?

The buyer or relevant rights holder normally keeps ownership of submitted intellectual property. The applicable terms must grant Pixels for Bricks the permissions needed to store, reproduce, resize, crop, display and technically process the approved content for the placement.

What permission do I give Pixels for Bricks?

The exact licence is defined in the Terms and Placement Policy. It should be limited to operating, displaying, promoting, maintaining and technically processing the purchased placement and The Wall.

Can I send an image that I found online?

Only when you have the necessary rights or permission. Being able to download an image does not mean it is free to use commercially.

What happens when someone reports copyright or trademark infringement?

The report will be assessed and the placement may be temporarily restricted or removed while the issue is investigated. The buyer may be asked to provide evidence of rights or permission.

PUBLICATION AND RESULTS 5 questions

How long will my placement remain online?

The applicable publication period and maintenance conditions are shown in the order information and Placement Policy. Placements are not described as permanent or lifetime placements unless that has been formally and legally agreed.

Is my placement guaranteed to remain online forever?

No. Website operation, publication duration, legal obligations, security issues and the applicable conditions may affect how long a placement remains available.

Will my block bring visitors to my website?

A published block provides a visible image and clickable link, but no number of views, visits, enquiries, sales or conversions is guaranteed.

Will buying pixels improve my search-engine ranking?

No search-engine ranking or SEO benefit is guaranteed. Search engines decide independently how they crawl, index and rank pages and links.

Does Pixels for Bricks endorse every linked website?

No. Publishing an approved placement does not mean Pixels for Bricks endorses every statement, product, service or activity on the destination website. Buyers remain responsible for their destination content, while Pixels for Bricks remains responsible for its own review and other obligations under the applicable terms and law.

CHANGES AND MAINTENANCE 5 questions

Can I change my image after publication?

A later image change may be possible under the maintenance and change conditions. Approval, technical requirements and a fee may apply. Free or unlimited changes are not promised.

What happens if my destination link stops working?

The buyer should provide an updated compliant link when possible. Pixels for Bricks may disable or remove links that are broken, unsafe, redirected to prohibited content or create security concerns.

May my image be resized?

Yes. The administrator creates a safe square derivative for The Wall. The image keeps its proportions and is padded where necessary; it is not stretched or cropped by the current upload process.

Can Pixels for Bricks change the technical design of The Wall?

Yes. Reasonable technical, security, accessibility and design changes may be made while aiming to preserve the substance of confirmed placements. The Terms should describe any relevant limits.

CANCELLATION AND REFUNDS 6 questions

Can I withdraw my request before payment?

Contact Pixels for Bricks with the order reference as soon as possible. An email does not itself approve cancellation, but an unpaid request can be reviewed and cancelled manually. Mandatory rights remain available.

Can I cancel after payment?

Cancellation rights depend on the buyer’s status, the stage of the service, any request to begin performance, the information agreed before payment and applicable law. Check the Refunds & Placement Policy for the order.

Do consumers have a right of withdrawal?

Consumers may have mandatory withdrawal rights for online purchases. The exact application can depend on the nature of the service, when performance begins and the consent and acknowledgements obtained before payment. Nothing in this FAQ removes mandatory rights.

What happens when I ask for publication to begin during the withdrawal period?

The information sent before payment and the legal documents must explain any request for early performance and its consequences. Withdrawal rights do not automatically disappear merely because payment was made.

What happens if my submitted content cannot be approved?

Where reasonable, the buyer may first be offered an opportunity to provide compliant replacement content. If the order cannot be fulfilled, the outcome follows the Refunds & Placement Policy, order circumstances and mandatory law.

How long does a refund take?

When a refund is due and approved, processing time may depend on the original payment method and the buyer’s bank. No exact arrival date is promised unless it is confirmed for the individual refund.

PRIVACY AND COOKIES 5 questions

Which personal data is collected?

The data needed may include contact, billing, order, payment-status, communication, technical and placement information. The Privacy Policy explains the purposes, legal bases, recipients, retention and rights.

Does the website collect card or bank details?

No. The order-request website does not collect card numbers, security codes or bank-account credentials. Payment instructions are sent separately after personal review.

Will my private email address be published?

Not by default. Only information clearly designated and approved as public placement content should appear on The Wall or in the directory.

Does the website use cookies?

The Cookie Policy explains which cookies and similar technologies are used, why they are used and whether consent is required. Non-essential cookies should not be activated before valid consent where consent is required.

Can I ask to access, correct or delete my personal data?

Privacy rights depend on applicable law and the reason the data is being retained. Requests can be submitted through the Contact page. Some data may need to be retained for legal, accounting, fraud-prevention or dispute purposes.

TECHNICAL AND ACCESSIBILITY 5 questions

Is the website guaranteed to be available at all times?

No online service can promise uninterrupted availability. Reasonable efforts are made to maintain the website, but maintenance, hosting failures, security incidents and other technical problems may cause interruption.

What happens during a technical outage?

The website and placements may be temporarily unavailable while the issue is investigated and repaired. The Terms govern any applicable responsibilities and limitations, subject to mandatory law.

Which browsers and devices are supported?

The website is designed for current desktop, tablet and mobile browsers. Older or unusual software may not support every interactive Wall feature.

Is The Wall accessible to keyboard and assistive-technology users?

The Wall includes non-canvas controls and a directory as alternatives to purely visual interaction. Accessibility will continue to be improved, and problems can be reported through the Contact page.

How can I report a security problem?

Contact Pixels for Bricks privately and include enough information to reproduce the issue. Do not publicly disclose sensitive account, payment or security information.

INTERNATIONAL BUYERS 4 questions

Can buyers outside the Netherlands participate?

The project is intended to be open internationally where the sale, payment and content are lawful and practically supported. Availability may be restricted for legal, sanctions, payment, tax or security reasons.

Can I pay in another currency?

The listed packages and manual payment instructions use euros. A buyer’s bank may apply currency conversion or bank charges. No different currency is promised unless it is confirmed individually before payment.

How are VAT and other taxes handled?

The order summary must show the amount applicable to the transaction before payment. Tax treatment can depend on the seller, buyer, location, customer status and applicable law. This FAQ does not provide personal tax advice.

Must my placement comply with my local law?

Yes. The buyer remains responsible for ensuring that submitted content and the linked destination are lawful in relevant jurisdictions. Pixels for Bricks may also apply its own stricter placement rules.

How do I contact Pixels for Bricks?

Use the Contact page for questions about orders, payments, content, privacy, rights complaints or technical problems. Include the order reference where available, but never send full payment-card details.

How do I make a complaint?

Send a clear description of the problem, the relevant order or placement reference and the outcome you are requesting. Complaints will be assessed on their facts and the applicable terms and law.

Which law applies?

The governing-law provision will be stated in the Terms. It must not remove any mandatory consumer protection that applies to a consumer in their country of residence.

Is Pixels for Bricks responsible for every loss connected with a placement or external website?

No blanket answer applies. The Terms may contain reasonable liability limitations to the extent permitted by law. Buyers remain responsible for their submitted content, permissions and destination links. Pixels for Bricks remains responsible for obligations that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

THE DUTCH GUY 5 questions

Is The Dutch Guy a real person?

Yes. Pixels for Bricks is being developed by a real person in the Netherlands. A stylised pixel portrait is used so the page can feel personal without turning the project into a personal publicity campaign. Read more on The Dutch Guy page.

Why is his full identity not the focus?

The Wall, the experiment and the participating people and projects should remain central. Formal seller, contact, privacy and legal information remains available where legally required.

How can I follow the project?

Follow the website and the official Pixels for Bricks Instagram account for genuine updates. No buyer, sale or milestone should be announced before it is real and confirmed.

What happens if all one million pixels are never sold?

The Wall can continue to grow gradually. A buyer’s approved placement does not depend on every pixel eventually being sold, subject to the publication duration and other conditions stated before payment.

What happens if the experiment has to stop?

The project does not promise permanent operation or lifetime publication. Illness, death, technical failure, legal requirements or other serious circumstances may make continuation impossible. The applicable Terms and mandatory rights determine the handling of confirmed placements.

Nothing in this FAQ excludes or limits rights or responsibilities that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
